Michael Carl is an outdoor writer and photographer. As a native Californian who has lived in the Sierras, the Central Valley, and on the Coast, he focuses on the State's vast biological, geological and ecological diversity.
His writing and photography have been published in Alaska, American Angler, Bay Nature, Earth Island Journal, Fisheries, Fly Fisherman, NOAA, Northwest Fly Fishing, Outdoor Life, Salon, Smithsonian, The Flyfish Journal (Summer 2024) and TROUT.
He lives in Half Moon Bay, California with his wife Debbie and a coonhound named Walker.
